I’m so excited about getting on a roll and spending yesterday totally re-arranging the loft where I store my vintage clothing! I created several potential spaces for potentially shooting pinup and boudoir, that also made my space look prettier and better organized.
The space has no windows, and needed lightening up; it needed a literal breath of fresh air. I had the idea to hang up this vintage backdrop that I bought from Jill of Viola Vintage (I’m still trying to help her sell the rest of her more than 20 other vintage stage backdrops). It’s not set up to hang from a pole like a paper or fabric backdrop, and needs to be clamped to the pole or altered. In other words, a royal pain in the butt if I want to change from the paper to this.
I hung it from the rafters, literally. While I was taking down my vintage pinup calendar pages, I noticed that a few had torn and been damaged from hanging by their protective covers. I’m going to have to preserve them better before I re-hang them, so this was an extra good thing that I took them down, or I wouldn’t have noticed the damage until it was more obvious!
Perpendicular to the vintage tropical backdrop, I’ve hung a bamboo shade, which I can easily remove for a tiki “floor”, or keep up as a different textured backdrop.
Wouldn’t this make for some great cheesecake and tiki styled pictures?
I also moved the faux fireplace and put the sheepskin in front of it, making a romantic living-room set up by the clothing racks. I hung some framed pinups a friend gave me on the nails that were already there above the “fireplace”!
The “dressing room” needed a rug, and I organized all the shirts and skirts that were piled on the floor into baskets. My bed is missing a few screws and some supports, but I hope to fix it soon and be able to have a bedroom set to shoot in. My personal vintage fur coat collection has been moved on a rack, over to the railing, giving my space total privacy from the downstairs.
I got a ton done!
